I am so fed up with Hollywood at the moment.

Even thinking about the actual cartoon -well like Top Cat - it was a lot of talking and humour, where the entertainment mainly came from. And sure the odd sneaky pinching of people's pic-a-nic baskets. How would they get a decent film out of its usual plot, really?

The Flintstones is kind of like that, but more happens in the episodes to warrant plausible films ideas; Yogi Bear I know already won't be any great joy.

Why do movies keep recycling old cartoons, comics, etc.? Are original ideas really that hard to come up with? (*Feels like she's asking an obvious question.*)

I just had to reply to Maria. As much as I hate to see old garbage get recycled, it does for a reason. It is easier to sell a movie on an established property than to take a risk with a new and unproven one. That's why we have bucket loads of ugly monstrous stupid werewolves filling the theaters every Halloween instead of more interesting and compelling stories of the beast. The only time we ever get a break is when someone is daring enough to risk millions on a new concept. Sure there may be alot more money to be made with new ideas. But it is harder to sell those new ideas. And it is that reason why creativity is nearly dead.
